Druk Gyalpo’s Relief Kidu

The Druk Gyalpo’s Relief Kidu was launched on 14 April 2020 for three months (April – June 2020) to provide income support to affected individuals. The Relief Kidu has provided immediate relief to over 23,000 individuals who had lost their livelihoods either partially or completely because of the coronavirus pandemic. The individuals also received additional child support Kidu – over 12,800 children were covered.

The Relief Kidu has been extended for three months, from July to September 2020. Individuals who received the Kidu in Phase I need to re-apply for further assessments. Applications are also open to new applicants who have been displaced by the coronavirus pandemic.

How to Apply for Druk Gyalpo’s Relief Kidu

Who is eligible?

Bhutanese who have been displaced by the coronavirus pandemic and are currently residing in Bhutan are eligible for the Druk Gyalpo’s Relief Kidu. The displaced group includes those who have been laid off, placed on unpaid leave or on reduced pay from businesses as well as self-employed individuals who have lost their earnings either partially or completely.

Kidu beneficiaries are encouraged to actively look for work or continue to work if already employed

What are the information required for applying?

You will need to have the following information ready to successfully complete your application:

  1. Your CID number
  2. CID number of your spouse/partner
  3. CID number of your household members currently living with you
  4. If you are an employee, details of your employer
  5. If you are self-employed/have self-operated business, details of your business such as business license number, vehicle registration number, etc.
  6. Valid personal savings account number and name of the bank branch

If you do not have a personal savings bank account during the time of application, you are encouraged to open an account to facilitate easy transfer of the Relief Kidu.

How do I apply?

There are two ways to apply for the Relief Kidu.

    3. Fill in all required information
    4. After completing, click on the Submit button
    5. You will receive SMS notification acknowledging receipt of the application
  2. Paper-based application
    1. Re-application form for Old Applicants (those who have received Kidu in Phase I) can be downloaded from HERE
    2. Application form for New Applicants can be downloaded from HERE
    3. Application form for New Applicants (Non-CID) can be downloaded from HERE
    4. Submit the completed form to the Dzongkhag Administration

How do I know whether I have been identified as a beneficiary?

You will be notified through SMS when your Kidu is granted.

How will I receive the Relief Kidu?
  1. If you have a valid personal savings bank account, the Relief Kidu will be deposited into your personal savings account
  2. If you do not have a personal savings bank account, you may open one and share the information with the Dzongkhag Administration to receive the Relief Kidu.
  3. If you do not have a personal savings bank account and are not able to open one, the Relief Kidu will be disbursed through the Dzongkhag Administration.

If you do not have a personal savings bank account during the time of application, you are encouraged to open an account to facilitate easy transfer of the Relief Kidu.
